Flight For Life Colorado pilots use GPS coordinates to assist them in finding the scene. Based on your description of the patient's geographic location,Flight For LIfe Communications will determine those coordinates. It's not necessary for scene personnel to provide the GPS coordinates, and we will not delay a helicopter's launch waiting for coordinates.
The pilot will work to keep the landing zone as close to the scene as possible. If the pilot requests a different landing zone, he may have noted some hazard from the air that may not have been apparent from the ground.
